學校圖書館主任園地 . .

圖書館主任在學校裡是一個十分特別的職位。在每一所中學都有一位圖書館主任; 由1998開始, 小學亦開始有圖書館主任的職位設立。傳統而言, 圖書館主任大部份都是文憑教師, 可以提昇至助理教席。但由1995年開始, 教育署頒布圖書館主任可以由學位教師擔任。 很長時期, 圖書館主任的工作被誤以為是容易的工作 -- 只是讀書、看報、借還書... 事實上, 圖書館主任工作是富有挑戰性和有趣的, 只是有一些校長及教師誤解而言。 近年來, 學校圖書館主任的工作開始被受重視, 加上資訊科技教育的出現, 更加重圖書館主任作為資訊科技掌門人的角色。當教育界紛紛投入資訊科技世界的同時, 圖書館亦已進入後資訊年代, 為學校師生提供資訊的角色日益繁重。 當學校圖書館主任的角色需要改革的同時, 部份圖書館主任亦組織起來, 為其他圖書館主任在各方面服務及爭取應有的權益。由90年代開始, 部份圖書館主任組織成為兩個團體: 香港學校圖書館主任協會及香港教育專業人員協會圖書館主任組。這些團體的幹事同工都是用自己工餘的時間, 投身服務大家, 推動圖書館形象的工作。 "Teacher-librarian" is a very special post in the schools in Hong Kong. In every secondary school, there is one teacher-librarian, and from 1998, every primary school also have one. Traditionally, all librarians should be Certificate Master/Mistress (CM) grade teachers and can be promoted to Assistant Master/Mistress (AM). Only from 1995, the Education Department accept qualified teacher-librarians upgrade to Graduate Master (GM). For a very long time, teacher-librarians were misunderstood as a easy job - just read books and newspapers, help students and teachers to borrow and return books. In fact, librarians' work is interesting and challenging. There are so many misunderstanding in teachers' and principals' mind. Recently, more and more people concern librarian's work, with the emergent of information technology, librarian is now become the key of the information access. When the education commuity is flocking to the inforamtion technology world, library is now enter the post-information era, that is to provide information to teachers and students. When librarians have a shift on their role in school, some of the librarian group together to form groups to serve other. From 1990's, some of the teacher-librarians gathered and form two groups, the Hong Kong Teacher-librarians' Association (HKTLA) and the Teacher-librarians' Group in Hong Kong Professional Teachers' Union (HKPTU-TLGp). These people work in their own time to organize activities and promote the image of the librarians.
